Alexandra Mandado
Speaking in It Starts at the Top: Creating a Culture of Philanthropy at 2:00 pm for the Ignited Leadership track.
As a Latina, mother, and proud daughter of Cuban and Chilean immigrant, Mandado is a fierce champion for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care and education in Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities that have historically been denied access to quality care. Mandado is a transformational leader with a deep connection to the organization, from being a Planned Parenthood patient herself at a young age to serving as PPSENFL’s Chief Development Officer for fifteen years. She brings a depth of experience and a passionate commitment to ensuring that Florida remains a safe haven for reproductive health care for people of all backgrounds and means.
Alex has been a leader in the non-profit sector for more than 20 years, having previously led fundraising efforts for Children’s Home Society of Florida, Miami Dade College Foundation, and the Victim Advocacy of Florida International University. She is a highly experienced leader with significant fundraising, financial management, strategic planning and board expertise. Alex’s leadership extends far beyond Florida, chairing various national committees and serving as past President of the Development Officers Council of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Mandado currently serves on the faculty of Philanthropy Miami and is a sought-out speaker on topics ranging from Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to progressive philanthropy. She is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley and fluent in Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter and is an avid (and competitive!) cyclist.
