Janice Graham

Speaking in Launching a Campaign Amid Uncertainty (Virtual is Here to Stay) at 2:00 pm for the Fundraising on Fire track.

Throughout Janice’s diverse career history, she has established herself as a leader, a visionary, and a person always prepared to take on a challenge. What began as a part-time tutor position at Casa Valentina in 2015, quickly turned into Janice’s current position as the organization’s Education Director. In that role, she has been an advocate for the youth we serve–as a voice, a connector of resources, and a change maker in the child welfare/homeless education process.

Janice’s 16+ years of teaching youth has left an imprint on students, colleagues and parents. Before joining Casa Valentina, she served as the English Department Chair for New World School of the Arts (NWSA), a magnet school that accepts youth based solely on talent and develops the whole child as he/she continues to pursue education goals. Janice led a team of extremely qualified teachers, ensuring that NWSA consistently met all local and state academic goals and requirements at the highest level. Prior to NWSA, Janice taught 7th and 8th grade English Literature, Grammar and History at the Cushman School in Miami.

Before entering the academic arena, Janice had 16 years of senior management and leadership experience in the corporate world. As the Assistant Vice President of Staffing for Barnett Bank, she led recruitment, retention, talent development and placement of branch management teams. Janice began her employment journey right out of college with Budget Rent-A-Car as the local, regional and national trainer, including all aspects of human resources as related to new hires, mid-level and senior management, and franchise acquisitions.

Janice received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Florida Southern College, and her Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, she resides in Belle Meade with her husband, retired Miami-Dade County Judge Wendell M. Graham. Together they have four children.
