Vicky Checo

Speaking in at for the track.

Vicky is a lover of all things community and strives to learn as much as possible about its history, people, and ongoing projects. She has over a decade of experience in the public sector working in government, non-profit, private and community philanthropy. A corporate “hippie” with a 360 understanding of grants and organizational development, Vicky strives to lessen the knowledge gap to elevate local initiatives and embed equity into every aspect of her work. A fierce public advocate from Queens, she made Miami her home and has planted roots along with her husband and two sons. Vicky earned her Bachelor’s in Sociology from CUNY’s Hunter College and Master’s in Public Administration from Florida International University. Prior to joining The Miami Foundation, she worked at The Knight Foundation, Miami Homes for All, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and NYC Dept. of Education. Vicky currently serves on the board of The Represented Foundation and the Advisory Board of CITAS Press.
